A patrol of the North Gate has Diakor notice that your body has started to naturally incorporate some of his powers and that the proximity of the hidden forest glade and its affinity with your favored element, darkness, might be amplifying your abilities. You could likely gain more power yourself if you stayed there, but you wouldn't be able to leave again unless the glade's area of influence grew. It has only been halted now due to the involvement of the forest barrier. He informs Ran of all of this and says only those of a particular capability will be able to go to the glade. Either someone who has the high level magic of dispelling falsehoods, such as Jar, or one who would be invited by nature to enter, such as Shlar. Harold might be able to enter if he focused all of his magic onto that purpose, but his current focus is not amenable to that outcome. Ran decides to get Shlar to help Garius' goals within the glade, as the man-made location is the last gift from the previous alchemist and clearly something helpful in the town's defense was left there on purpose.

Getting The Captain's Interest
Yet another patrol and yet more insights Diakor makes about you, this time noticing your internal workings and their ability to produce eggs. He is intrigued by this and believes understanding it will make it easier for him to ensure his own progeny take root in your body, so gives you the command that you go and make more children. Your kids will also receive his blessing and grow stronger than normal. He will also make sure whomever is the father has the greatest influence on the children's development, since he doesn't want kids that are as corruptible and malleable as you are, if they are to be dominant. He continues talking with himself for a while, debating the best method of picking and choosing traits to pass on. He also mentions something about his father and whether his parentage was correct or not on how they decided to pass on traits to him. Diakor then informs Ran about you being a potential broodmother, which intrigues him and causes you to mentally complain. The dragon says it's irrelevant, as the Captain would have figured it out sooner or later, especially if he did impregnate you. Besides, you have been acting as slave to Ran as your master anyways.

At any time when you don't have another patrol available, Ran will decide to go on a different kind of patrol with you, masking you and having you on a leash on your hands and knees while he goes out and about with you. Who you see depends on whom you've interacted with before. Normally, you'll run into Iron who says he finds it hard to believe that you of all people would be a troublemaker in order to get this punishment. This makes him wonder how much of this is more of Ran's personal interest than anything else, but he neither confirms or denies and asks if Iron wants to be next. If you've gone on a date with Kubas before, he'll arrive to speak with Ran bout their preparations before the Order of Knights arrive in town. He notes that another stallion, presumably Iron's father, will be taking over as head trainer. He suggests they install new things to the training field to make things more bearable when the new trainer starts. And the two discuss on the stallion's nature and the nature of the one who will be replacing Captain Ran as head of the Barracks.

Once you've investigated the animals of the forest with Crux, he will show up at the Barracks to discuss the progress of the new obstacle training course being set up. He also teases you and brings up your fun with ropes in the woods, then requests that Ran teach him about the restraining items that have been placed on you. If you've messed around with Boruk before, he's come to discuss his concerns with Ran about whether the Order will have a problem with him being a barbarian. Ran reassures him that as a member of the guards in a town of largely ex-adventurers, they should treat him the same as everyone else. They then talk about how strong their guards are and how it is Ran's policy to not lose any of his guards in their fights. Boruk praises how strong demons like Varok are in their physical capabilities and then suggests setting up a stockade in the out of the way area. He thinks you and the guards would enjoy it and Ran says they might go ahead with that.

After each of these somewhat humiliating patrols, Ran will take you back to his office to finish paperwork and then proceed through a series of fun activities with you. Initially, he will just have you sit between his legs and pet you while he works, nothing untoward happening between you other than Diakor making comments about how eager you are to please your master. He comments afterwards about the need for him to get a squire at some point in the future, to fill the role he clearly needs since you're standing in at the moment. The next time, he has you by his side and decides to reward your patience by having you climb onto his desk and giving you attention. Due to the mess you made, he points out that this doubles as cleaning training, since you'll need to learn to clean up his future messes as well. He escalates his attentions on his desk and on his chair. Though negatively comments on your hygiene after the first and how what he does with you needs to be carefully chosen because of that in the latter event. He also brings up the Mayor's plan to eventually build a schoolhouse for training. Be careful you don't run out of stamina while playing with him though since, so long as you have the mpreg kink unlocked, you'd find yourself taking up more or less permanent residence in Ran's office on the dog bed he has for you. He, meanwhile, will take advantage of his knowledge on your baby-making capabilities. And so much more.

Becoming Sir's Pup
After having Iron become interested in more deeply investigating your abilities he doesn't understand and having progressed Kubas' investigation to the point of needing a stakeout, the Order of Knights will finally arrive in town and Ran will hint that his position in the town will be changing. Running to join the crowd of onlookers, you will see that each member of the Knights is not only wearing heavy armor, but that they also appear to be glowing a bright light. Though not in the colors or in a way that makes them seem like Paladins. Questioning this, Diakor will inform you that those are his colors and will explain that the Knights get their magical abilities from him as this land's Sovereign. Each side in the contract, including the Sovereign himself, have things they must do to uphold the deal. You also notice one important knight in particular staring at you.

Later the Residential area will unlock, though specific characters there will require other actions to find. To have Ran appear in the area,  that knight you saw, Garthoz, will need to tell you of the former Captain's location. Meeting Ran at his house for the first time, he'll be amused that you sought him out when you didn't need to for things to continue working in the town. The only reason you would is if you were interested in truly becoming his pup. He tells you that the trainer he was waiting for arrived along with the Order, so if you choose to continue being around him, Ran is going to take you out in public in your true pet form and bring you to proper pup training. Talking with him again will be giving your assent and he'll dress you up in your new harnessed outfit, taking you on a walk to the now unlocked College. There, you'll meet his trainer friend, Varon, and the two will discuss how the rules for such training works in the town and what Diakor has allowed to happen. Ran even tells Varon that he can keep you if you choose to do so, since you're a free man doing things across town without a defined purpose or restriction yet.

Waking The Spirits
After completing all of Varon's training and mastering, more or less, your new liquid metal abilities, you are recommended to return to Ran to report your progress. He has you demonstrate your new powers, requesting some changes to more of a pitbull like form. Next, he takes you to Azlos' shop, mentioning along the way that more and more scorch marks have been appearing in the town, meaning the fire-based elemental is beginning to manifest. And the materials needed to make a temple to house such spirits won't make it to town in time. Also, that's only the first to come, with Diakor suggesting that seven different elementals are forming, perhaps more in the future. If they aren't properly contained, their powers would warp the land itself and likely destroy the town. They think that someone or some group is forcing the spirit formation to happen now, likely those Kubas has been trying to find.

Getting to Azlos', they converse about needing Vince and Vandeel for their containment plan, but Vandeel can't keep his mouth shut. They don't want this info to get out to the public, because any number of destructive responses could occur, particularly from the scholars in town who want to associate with the forming spirits. They'll need to find some sort of blackmail against Vandeel to keep him quiet. They also need a beastmaster to give them a beast for the spirit to make a familiar pact with. And with this initial spirit, the beast needs to be lava-related, which isn't exactly common in a forest region. The way this works makes you think back to what Varon said about your metallic elemental form. You might need to ask him about all this. The alternative is to just have a regular person make the pact and who can deal with the curse of the spirit inhabiting them and potentially taking over their mind. But they also need to be physically weak enough that the spirit doesn't gain much power from the vessel and so won't be a danger. Looks like you have several tasks to do and questions to ask now.

Once you've discussed your suitability to be connected to an elemental spirit with Varon, along with being aware of Vandeel's special growing problem and being as close as possible with Vince, you explain to Ran and Azlos what you can do. Azlos is highly intrigued and has you transform into a two-legged form, which you didn't even think about trying, though you have difficulty forming it. He suggests you both train on that when the crisis is averted. You suggest that you can keep Vandeel distracted while having him and Vince craft the things needed for the plan. Looks like you've got everything worked out.

Building A Spiritual Construct
The plan begins by confronting Vandeel at the Blacksmith's with Ran. He doesn't seem like he'd be swayed to being more or less stuck only metal working for a week, but you suggest that you'd stay with him the entire time. That's enough to convince him and, once you tell him the spiritual doll he'd be making, he agrees that it's feasible, particularly with a magic user like Azlos around. A week seems like a really short time to finish it though. You get set up in the special abode they've created in the Barracks area for you and Vandeel to live and for him to work. When he returns for the day, he ends up telling you his past and why he's so serious about this project now that he knows.

When he was younger in another town, a similar spirit awakening occurred. Instead of properly making the doll at the time, Vandeel messed around with his friends and the townspeople, claiming he was making good progress on the imbuement. The spirit ended up going on a rampage, killing almost everyone in the town and burning down the surrounding forest. He never told his party members the truth and they just thought it was a lack of time and him not yet being skilled enough at crafting. But now he has a new place, an apprentice, and you. He can't afford to make the same mistake. You do your best to comfort him, though he scoffs at the sappy stuff.

The week and the work continues, with Vince noticing that Vandeel isn't even throwing around his usual innuendos. If you've completed Azlos' alchemy trainings, then you can speak to Azlos in the smithing area while he's at his alchemical station. He wishes he could do more to help you and he's deathly worried about losing you. He tells you that if he feels like something is going wrong during the pact, he'd rather sacrifice himself to get you out than let you die. Afterwards, you report to Ran about how things are progressing and he explains that all the mages around have been called to reinforce the barrier during the summoning.

As one of those mages, Varon arrives to tell you that he'll be leading the group. He wonders about the forge spirit, a kind he's never heard about before. Diakor uses your mouth to tell him that they didn't exist before civilization did and that it's the growth of society that has created them. Varon is fairly certain you'll be fine regardless, though whether you'll be the one in primary control of your body after is unclear. Going back to Vandeel the night before the shindig, he begs for you to be safe. He can't lose you.

Everyone Loves You
The day arrives and Diakor chimes in. He admits to not knowing the future outcome, though his father would probably know if he hadn't reincarnated himself to be a young dragon in an adventuring party, which Diakor mocks the idea of. Everyone is waiting and who you can talk to depends on your current relationships. Azkim is always waiting and criticizes you for doing something dangerous like this. He mentions Spirit Callers from his tribe who do this and how much control the spirit ends up having over the person. As before, if you've finished your alchemy lessons, then you can speak with Azlos, who reveals he's learned of another foreigner in town who is knowledgeable on what happened to you and what's going on with your abilities. It's the person who arrived here before you, though Azlos hasn't located them yet. If you had some personal fun with Garthoz, he'll express surprise that you have the ability to form a pact. He hopes that you'll be safe.

If you've slept over at Harold's, then you'll find him wondering if you new abilities are his fault. Normally, Varon wouldn't have been able to make you his familiar, but Harold wonders if the merging into his body that you both did, it altered your powers. You seem to be able to change your powers depending on what other power you are exposed to, which means Harold needs to update his notes about you. He tells you that you have to come back unharmed because you both have a lot left to explore with each other. Iron is here, of course, and points out how you seem to have the ability to make others mature, like you did with Vandeel and with him. He's realized how special you are to him and says he won't tell you "I love you" until you return safe.

Assuming you've been given Jar's child-bearing seal, he's there as a guard and jokes around with you and the expected sexual exploits you'll be having with the spirit. He's not worried for you at all, since his seal lets him teleport you to him no matter what. If you've convinced Kanat to move in with Harold, he'll be there as one of the mages maintaining the barrier. He's embarrassed and sad about all the difficulties you've been facing, feeling like he's been a selfish friend. Once you return from your trial, he wants to get to know you better. Kubas, meanwhile, recommends you confer with Azkim after, as he's actually a Spirit Caller himself. He also gives some info on the form you can change into, which are called Mimic Sentinels in his tribe, and also has some suggestions on how best to complete your trial.

Having had a child with Oscar the anxious doctor will be there offering pleasant, but unnecessary, healing and massages. He's very worried for you and speaks about the epic story Nel will be able to make from this, but you'll need to absolutely return for that to happen. Ran has confidence in you, but does give you a chew toy to keep in your mouth, to let him know if things are going wrong in your trial. If you've completed your date with Steel, he'll be there to tell you to kick that spirit's ass and then you'll both have some fun when you get back. Vandeel is of course there to see you off, though doesn't have much else to say after he revealed everything to you the night before.

Assuming you've altered Varok's mark, he'll speak in your mind and explain that you're fully under his control now. And since his contract has been broken, he can become more powerful than any other attempted thralling of your mind by others. Particularly since he pledged loyalty to Diakor and received power from that. He criticizes the choices of the demon king, who is apparently still alive, for trying to go against nature and the purpose of demons. He's still an old man wandering around somewhere. Varok brings up Diakor's greed and how any demons who serve him can't be killed, as they'll just reform by him. And you too, eventually, when he's fully transformed you. Though his greed should subside when he gets older, like his father, whom Varok already located after his contract was broken. He tells you he'll have Diakor's father come to town to meet his new son-in-law. He sends you off, pointing out he has other things to do than pretend to uphold a barrier he could do completely on his own anyways, implying he's powerful enough to fix this whole problem on his own if he wished.

Your final meetup is with Vince, who's a bit rough with his worry and seems like he has something to tell you, but talks himself out of it. Apparently he's also been listening to Nel's stories of your "exploits". He seems ignorant about what's going on with your trial, but hopes you both can hang out more when you're done. He'll be waiting right here for you.

Once you've met up with everyone, Varon will approach you. He gives you a pep talk and then you change into your other form to approach the spiritual doll. Things suddenly go black and you find yourself in an empty void. A voice begins speaking to you, telling you to find it and worship it. This isn't the spirit, but something else. Wandering around some more, however, soon leads you to the spirit you were looking for, Immor. After you've completed your trials with Immor and have woken up many days later, you'll return the chew toy to Ran and he'll be happy you remembered. You report what happened to him, but keep quiet on the face and voice you heard after Diakor says to do so. They've temporarily set up Immor at the College because the grounds are resistant to elemental effects and will eventually build a proper temple for the spirit. There's also another issue going on that he and the Knights will meet on later, including you. You can also hang out with him after to get your reward for being a Good BoyTM.

After you've met the warden Malakar in an alternative timeline, you can talk with Ran, who will tell you to go turn yourself in before Malakar catches you. He's been distracting the warden as much as he can with paperwork, but it's only a temporary setback.

Ran is the Captain of the Guards in the visual novel GameOver. A true commander in body and spirit, he will not allow any backtalk or disobedience. He keeps an iron grip over the guards and maintains order in the Barracks and the town as a whole. He has two Bad Ends to discover.

Questlines

Getting The Captain's Approval

Upon first encountering you, Ran seeks to kick you out as an unknown townsfolk bothering the guards. But he quickly recognizes you, seemingly by your scent, as the new traveler from outside who has been getting particularly close to Garius. He demands you explain how you go through the forest, threatening incarceration if you fail to be forthright. You don't have much to say, but it's enough to prove that you aren't the other traveler who arrived under suspicious circumstances. He decides he can make use of you and says you're not allowed to leave town and, as of this moment, you count as a recruit in training.[1]

Not one for unproductive chatting, Ran currently has no conversational scenes, but does have specific commands he'll allow after requirements with other characters are met. Your interactions with him while patrolling are somewhat flirtatious, especially if musk is unlocked as a trait.[2] After meeting Iron[3] and have patrolled at least once with Ran, you can get permission from him to train with the guards.[4] Similarly, after you've lost to Iron in a fight[5], you can speak with Ran about the stallion's weird obsession with you. The Captain mentions that this has happened with a few people before, where Iron determined that they had some ability they weren't utilizing, and he tells you that you should become stronger to stay safe from Iron's attentions. He suggests getting some gym time in and learn how to grapple from Vic.[6] Beating Iron will impress Ran enough for him to allow you to patrol with all the guards, with you having shown that you have the intellect to deal with problems.[7]

Getting The Captain's Trust

If you go to patrol with Ran while having high lust and musk is unlocked, Ran will help you with your predicament, but threatens to give you training if you don't shape up.[8] Repeating this scene several times will result in him following through with his warning and give you your first pup training in order to control your urges.[9] After this point, further disobedience of having high lust will just repeat the prior training scene and regular patrols will be replaced with patrols as Ran's pup.[10] Be careful of your own well being however or you will end up becoming his permanent pup recruit.[11]

Proving yourself by helping out the investigations of others, including Crux[12] and Kubas,[13] and having been made a pup to prove your loyalty in an alternate timeline will impress Ran enough to have him choose to let you help him directly with investigations. He also gives you some background on the fighting in the northern forest and how it used to be in the southern forest and the town was used as a base for the demon cultists.[14] Getting your agreement of silence, he explains that a major demon summoning was done by the cultists previously to grant themselves power and it was with the help of the mercenary troop that they were thwarted. A second attempt resulted in the town being caught up in the skirmish and being mostly destroyed. The rebuilding had only been accomplished recently and, yet again, the cultists have started up their efforts, hence the fighting in the north. Though it is unknown from where the cultists are basing their activities this time, which is precisely what Ran wants you to investigate. Before that though, he brings up his knowledge on the memories that he, Iron, and Kubas have of you for things that never happened. There is someone in town who might be able to help you figure out more on how this power works, but to meet him you first have to get closer to Mayor Sep. Furthermore, you have to gain Azlos' trust before he will also agree to take you to meet the person in question. Raising questions and confusion, Ran tells you that while he doesn't know exactly what's going on with you, you're not the first person to come to the town with such strange memory effects and also walked through the forest barrier unscathed.[15]

Getting The Captain's Support

After having met Diakor and being told by him that Ran wants to speak with you,[16] and having progressed Kubas' investigation enough to have informed him about nagas and their abilities,[17] Ran will want your report from the Sovereign. If you have advanced your relationship with the dragon enough to have gone inside of him and become more his vessel,[18] he'll speak directly to Ran with your body, otherwise he'll just tell you what to say. The Captain decides you are useful to take with the guards on patrol now and in their efforts to deal with the enemies powering the forest illusion barrier. He also plans on personally training you further, though in private, which Diakor mocks as useless keeping up of appearances and if he was the one training you, he's do it whenever and wherever he wanted. Though he notes that he should be careful in how he works through you, as his mark would much more alert those enemies around than the minor ones from demons you currently possess. His blessing, however, is outside of your personal control and can only be activated by the dragon himself through you.[19]

Future interactions with Ran and other events require a closer connection with Diakor.[18] When next patrolling with Ran, he will have you and your Sovereign inspect some tracks outside the south gate. Diakor confirms them as related to the nagas and suggests discussing with the centaurs what they've seen. If you are given a scroll, he will also be able to have you chart out the area.[20] He is able to confirm that a male naga, seemingly without a female Seer, has been going through the area. You will be assigned to take care of the matter, though the taming of the naga wouldn't work out well if Diakor did it himself. So Shlar will need to be involved too.[21]

Another patrol will have Diakor notice that some being around the town is trying to stay in slumber. He questions Ran on the details of the mysterious other person that arrived the same night you did and, while the details are different than what he expected, he claims to have an idea on whom the being is.[22] He explains that it isn't a person, but a spirit of metal and the forge that likely came from the nearby cave. This doesn't mean it'll hang around the Blacksmith's though and instead will be waiting for the town to grow before revealing itself. Azlos can uncover him, but only under the right conditions, since doing so incorrectly could cause the spirit to go wild with flame and burn the town down. Diakor notes that the arrival of this spirit means the specialization of the town and what it will produce has been made and Ran approves.[23]

It has only been halted now due to the involvement of the forest barrier.[24] He informs Ran of all of this and says only those of a particular capability will be able to go to the glade. Either someone who has the high level magic of dispelling falsehoods, such as Jar, or one who would be invited by nature to enter, such as Shlar. Harold might be able to enter if he focused all of his magic onto that purpose, but his current focus is not amenable to that outcome. Ran decides to get Shlar to help Garius' goals within the glade, as the man-made location is the last gift from the previous alchemist and clearly something helpful in the town's defense was left there on purpose.[25]

He also mentions something about his father and whether his parentage was correct or not on how they decided to pass on traits to him.[26] Diakor then informs Ran about you being a potential broodmother, which intrigues him and causes you to mentally complain. The dragon says it's irrelevant, as the Captain would have figured it out sooner or later, especially if he did impregnate you. Besides, you have been acting as slave to Ran as your master anyways.[27]

At any time when you don't have another patrol available, Ran will decide to go on a different kind of patrol with you, masking you and having you on a leash on your hands and knees while he goes out and about with you.[28] Who you see depends on whom you've interacted with before. Normally, you'll run into Iron who says he finds it hard to believe that you of all people would be a troublemaker in order to get this punishment. This makes him wonder how much of this is more of Ran's personal interest than anything else, but he neither confirms or denies and asks if Iron wants to be next.[29] If you've gone on a date with Kubas before,[30] he'll arrive to speak with Ran bout their preparations before the Order of Knights arrive in town. He notes that another stallion, presumably Iron's father, will be taking over as head trainer. He suggests they install new things to the training field to make things more bearable when the new trainer starts. And the two discuss on the stallion's nature and the nature of the one who will be replacing Captain Ran as head of the Barracks.[31]

Once you've investigated the animals of the forest with Crux,[32] he will show up at the Barracks to discuss the progress of the new obstacle training course being set up. He also teases you and brings up your fun with ropes in the woods, then requests that Ran teach him about the restraining items that have been placed on you.[33] If you've messed around with Boruk before,[34] he's come to discuss his concerns with Ran about whether the Order will have a problem with him being a barbarian. He thinks you and the guards would enjoy it and Ran says they might go ahead with that.[35]

After each of these somewhat humiliating patrols, Ran will take you back to his office to finish paperwork and then proceed through a series of fun activities with you. Initially, he will just have you sit between his legs and pet you while he works, nothing untoward happening between you other than Diakor making comments about how eager you are to please your master.[36] He comments afterwards about the need for him to get a squire at some point in the future, to fill the role he clearly needs since you're standing in at the moment.[37] The next time, he has you by his side and decides to reward your patience by having you climb onto his desk and giving you attention.[38] Due to the mess you made, he points out that this doubles as cleaning training, since you'll need to learn to clean up his future messes as well.[39] He escalates his attentions on his desk[40] and on his chair.[41] Though negatively comments on your hygiene after the first[42] and how what he does with you needs to be carefully chosen because of that in the latter event. He also brings up the Mayor's plan to eventually build a schoolhouse for training.[43] Be careful you don't run out of stamina while playing with him though since, so long as you have the mpreg kink unlocked, you'd find yourself taking up more or less permanent residence in Ran's office on the dog bed he has for you. He, meanwhile, will take advantage of his knowledge on your baby-making capabilities. And so much more.[44]

Becoming Sir's Pup

After having Iron become interested in more deeply investigating your abilities he doesn't understand[45] and having progressed Kubas' investigation to the point of needing a stakeout,[46] the Order of Knights will finally arrive in town and Ran will hint that his position in the town will be changing. You also notice one important knight in particular staring at you.[47]

Later the Residential area will unlock, though specific characters there will require other actions to find. To have Ran appear in the area, that knight you saw, Garthoz, will need to tell you of the former Captain's location.[48] Meeting Ran at his house for the first time, he'll be amused that you sought him out when you didn't need to for things to continue working in the town. The only reason you would is if you were interested in truly becoming his pup. He tells you that the trainer he was waiting for arrived along with the Order, so if you choose to continue being around him, Ran is going to take you out in public in your true pet form and bring you to proper pup training.[49] Talking with him again will be giving your assent and he'll dress you up in your new harnessed outfit, taking you on a walk to the now unlocked College. There, you'll meet his trainer friend, Varon, and the two will discuss how the rules for such training works in the town and what Diakor has allowed to happen. Ran even tells Varon that he can keep you if you choose to do so, since you're a free man doing things across town without a defined purpose or restriction yet.[50]

Waking The Spirits

After completing all of Varon's training and mastering, more or less, your new liquid metal abilities, you are recommended to return to Ran to report your progress.[51] He has you demonstrate your new powers, requesting some changes to more of a pitbull like form.[52] Next, he takes you to Azlos' shop, mentioning along the way that more and more scorch marks have been appearing in the town, meaning the fire-based elemental is beginning to manifest. And the materials needed to make a temple to house such spirits won't make it to town in time. Also, that's only the first to come, with Diakor suggesting that seven different elementals are forming, perhaps more in the future. If they aren't properly contained, their powers would warp the land itself and likely destroy the town. They think that someone or some group is forcing the spirit formation to happen now, likely those Kubas has been trying to find.[53]

Looks like you have several tasks to do and questions to ask now.[53]

Once you've discussed your suitability to be connected to an elemental spirit with Varon,[54] along with being aware of Vandeel's special growing problem[55] and being as close as possible with Vince,[56] you explain to Ran and Azlos what you can do. Looks like you've got everything worked out.[57]

When he returns for the day, he ends up telling you his past and why he's so serious about this project now that he knows.[58]

You do your best to comfort him, though he scoffs at the sappy stuff.[58]

The week and the work continues, with Vince noticing that Vandeel isn't even throwing around his usual innuendos. If you've completed Azlos' alchemy trainings,[59] then you can speak to Azlos in the smithing area while he's at his alchemical station. He wishes he could do more to help you and he's deathly worried about losing you. He tells you that if he feels like something is going wrong during the pact, he'd rather sacrifice himself to get you out than let you die. Afterwards, you report to Ran about how things are progressing and he explains that all the mages around have been called to reinforce the barrier during the summoning.[58]

He can't lose you.[58]

Everyone Loves You

The day arrives and Diakor chimes in. He admits to not knowing the future outcome, though his father would probably know if he hadn't reincarnated himself to be a young dragon in an adventuring party, which Diakor mocks the idea of. Everyone is waiting and who you can talk to depends on your current relationships.[58] Azkim is always waiting and criticizes you for doing something dangerous like this. He mentions Spirit Callers from his tribe who do this and how much control the spirit ends up having over the person.[60] As before, if you've finished your alchemy lessons,[59] then you can speak with Azlos, who reveals he's learned of another foreigner in town who is knowledgeable on what happened to you and what's going on with your abilities. It's the person who arrived here before you, though Azlos hasn't located them yet.[61] If you had some personal fun with Garthoz,[62] he'll express surprise that you have the ability to form a pact. He hopes that you'll be safe.[63]

If you've slept over at Harold's,[64] then you'll find him wondering if you new abilities are his fault. Normally, Varon wouldn't have been able to make you his familiar, but Harold wonders if the merging into his body that you both did, it altered your powers. You seem to be able to change your powers depending on what other power you are exposed to, which means Harold needs to update his notes about you. He tells you that you have to come back unharmed because you both have a lot left to explore with each other.[65] Iron is here, of course, and points out how you seem to have the ability to make others mature, like you did with Vandeel and with him. He's realized how special you are to him and says he won't tell you "I love you" until you return safe.[66]

Assuming you've been given Jar's child-bearing seal,[67] he's there as a guard and jokes around with you and the expected sexual exploits you'll be having with the spirit. He's not worried for you at all, since his seal lets him teleport you to him no matter what.[68] If you've convinced Kanat to move in with Harold,[69] he'll be there as one of the mages maintaining the barrier. He's embarrassed and sad about all the difficulties you've been facing, feeling like he's been a selfish friend. Once you return from your trial, he wants to get to know you better.[70] Kubas, meanwhile, recommends you confer with Azkim after, as he's actually a Spirit Caller himself. He also gives some info on the form you can change into, which are called Mimic Sentinels in his tribe, and also has some suggestions on how best to complete your trial.[71]

Having had a child with Oscar[72] the anxious doctor will be there offering pleasant, but unnecessary, healing and massages. He's very worried for you and speaks about the epic story Nel will be able to make from this, but you'll need to absolutely return for that to happen.[73] Ran has confidence in you, but does give you a chew toy to keep in your mouth, to let him know if things are going wrong in your trial.[74] If you've completed your date with Steel,[75] he'll be there to tell you to kick that spirit's ass and then you'll both have some fun when you get back.[76] Vandeel is of course there to see you off, though doesn't have much else to say after he revealed everything to you the night before.[77]

Assuming you've altered Varok's mark,[78] he'll speak in your mind and explain that you're fully under his control now. He sends you off, pointing out he has other things to do than pretend to uphold a barrier he could do completely on his own anyways, implying he's powerful enough to fix this whole problem on his own if he wished.[79]

He'll be waiting right here for you.[80]

Once you've met up with everyone, Varon will approach you. He gives you a pep talk and then you change into your other form to approach the spiritual doll. Things suddenly go black and you find yourself in an empty void. A voice begins speaking to you, telling you to find it and worship it. This isn't the spirit, but something else.[81] Wandering around some more, however, soon leads you to the spirit you were looking for, Immor.[82] After you've completed your trials with Immor and have woken up many days later,[83] you'll return the chew toy to Ran and he'll be happy you remembered. You report what happened to him, but keep quiet on the face and voice you heard after Diakor says to do so. They've temporarily set up Immor at the College because the grounds are resistant to elemental effects and will eventually build a proper temple for the spirit. There's also another issue going on that he and the Knights will meet on later, including you.[84] You can also hang out with him after to get your reward for being a Good BoyTM.[85]

After you've met the warden Malakar in an alternative timeline,[86] you can talk with Ran, who will tell you to go turn yourself in before Malakar catches you. He's been distracting the warden as much as he can with paperwork, but it's only a temporary setback.[87]
