Varok'Inak is the demon town guard for the South Gate in the visual novel GameOver. The strongest of the demons in town, he specializes in mind control and domination of others. Due to a contract he has with the town mayor Sep, he restricts his activities to those willing and also gives his mark out to some to keep them protected from others who might try to control them. Many of the mysteries and goings-on in the town connect back to Varok and he is often far more informed on anything happening than one would expect.

Background

Varok refers to the additional name of Inak as a "mantle" that he wears. He refers to the town as his new "tribe" and that mayor Sep acts as his leader.

Questlines

The Demon's Focus

Upon first meeting the demon, Varok is slightly interested in you, sensing something different, but refuses to interact with you until Captain Ran approves you working with the guards. Afterwards, he immediately begins questioning you on the unknown other person who arrived the same night you did. But you have no info to give him. Speaking with Vince about his theory on the mist surrounding the town, then Azlos to initiate potential future tests on the subject, will allow you to also discuss the idea with Varok. He doesn't care much about it, still focused on the unknown visitor, but plans to use Azlos' testing for his own goals.

If you've been previously dominated by either Sep or Ran, Varok will notice this proclivity, which also appeals to his own desires on what to do with you. He reveals that demons like his usually invade the minds of others and control them, though he now does so only when ordered to by his leader or determines it to be required. But he is interested in having some mental fun with you in the future if you're willing. Agreeing to play with him will have you join him on his next patrol while he has you hallucinate sexual interactions with him in public as if they were truly happening. How far the scene goes depends on how high your lust is at the end of each segment, but too high of a starting lust will result in a game over where you become his permanent plaything and general receptacle for the guards.

The Demon's Control

After you've experienced this alternative rest of your life, Varok notices that he still has control over you as if he had broken your mind before, which he doesn't remember doing. He has concerns about this being the doing of someone else and also observes how his Inak tribe's "home point" has a worrying metaphorical cloud hanging overhead. In order to make sure you don't get controlled by anyone else, Varok exerts his full control over your mind to give you protection. This will prevent you from being enthralled by anyone else and he promises not to interfere with your life or give you his mark, so others will remain unaware.

That doesn't prevent him, however, from attempting to convince you to give in to his attentions. After this, once you've started Azlos' delivery work and are attempting to become close to Nel after asking Azlos for help, you can ask Varok about how to stop Nel being shy around you. He tells you that Nel has his mark as well to make sure no one else is able to control the mayor's secretary and Varok can simply make him more open and suggestible to interaction with you. Once you've met Kanat and discovered that he also has a licentious relationship with Jar, you can ask Varok about the relationship that he has with the ram that Jar mentioned to you. He will say that they've played around, but that since another demon has an eye on him, Varok never took their relationship further and he also has no interest in making a harem or needing anyone besides you.

During the course of helping with Kubas' special investigation, you can ask Varok about the new potential fiend in the town and he'll explain that it is not of the origin of demons. Most likely it is a magic user that went too far in the darker arts, resulting in their body transforming into a demonic one, which they are now keeping hidden with magic. He advises you don't confront the person directly, as they would likely try to silence anyone that knows of their misdeeds. After you've gotten Kanat to become an apprentice to Harold and you've received Varok's mark, the bearcat will notice the mark on you and speak with you about him being marked by the demon as well, along with more information on how the marks work and what they mean. Varok, once told of this, is surprised and remarks that Harold must have gotten farther into the magical arts to be able to detect the altered mark that has been placed on you. He points out that Harold won't be able to usurp the mark and take you over even if you agree to him doing so, so there's no point in trying.

The Demon's Pet

Once you've gotten Ran's approval to work alongside the other guards while they are on patrol, Varok will inform you that you are to accompany him from now on and on any other business he deems you to be an "asset" for. This will also allow him to continue his mental training with you and mold you into what he wants, exemplified by his ability to read your very thoughts. To get a newcomer to arrive in town, you must progress Harold's attempts to get his assistant Kanat to open up sexually and to have already spent a night in the bearcat's bed, which will then prompt Varok to tell you about the new partner he's been assigned, Sparky. The demon is to keep an eye over him to make sure the new guy doesn't misuse his own demonic powers in the town and abides by the contract he's signed with the mayor. The Order of knights is also keen on the demons in town following strictly to the rules. Varok tells the newly arrived Sparky that he is to mark you as well so you can be an outlet for his needs instead of others. And, if you have mpreg unlocked, he is keen to eventually be allowed to have a number of children with you.

Varok ultimately decides that, since Sep won't let him corrupt other adventurers, he'll spend some time lightly breaking your mind. Which will improve your resistance, though not to being affected, but in being able to come back after being mind controlled and not leaving you a complete drone. He also mentions that he would be capable of dealing with either The Order or the evil cult himself, but his contract with Sep prevents him from freely using his powers. Though since it seems a soon to arrive lion Order captain will try and break all of Sep's contracts, leaving all the demons able to do whatever they want and to whomever they want. Your next play time with Varok has him mentally speaking to you and hypnotizing you to not think and your only desires being what he wants. This is a test for him just to see how well this technique functions. He explains that he's been studying hypnosis methods at the library, as his usual method is just pushing his own thoughts into the heads of others and nothing more complicated than that. He also looks forward to the other sexual things he will get to do with you.

He continues to test out his powers on you, having you obey silently and be his pet next to him. Combining his methodologies seems to work well, though Varok is interested in testing out more physical methods of hypnosis as well. But he won't be able to do that out in the open, so suggests going to his house in the future for such experiments.
