Oscar is an otter healer in the visual novel GameOver. He runs the Healer's Office alongside his secretary Nel and conducts research into how to protect the inhabitants of the town from the corruptive influence of the mist spell surrounding it. He currently has no Bad Ends to find.
Backstory
Having once lived in the capital, Oscar says that he was a member of the healing guild there.[1] He also notes that he knew Harold there during him time as a noble and finds it difficult to treat him as an equal now. They also encouraged each other in their magic research, which resulted in Oscar also becoming an alchemist and dabbling in multiple types of magic.[2] Though the only types of magic that he can properly use are light and water magic.[3] In fact, the methods he uses to treat patients, especially those in the town, was something developed by Harold in the first place.[4]
Questlines
Getting Some Healing
After making friends with Nel and doing several deliveries to the Healer's Office for Azlos,[5][6][7] you will be able to visit the office on your own time and do health checkups with Oscar with Nel's enthusiastic permission.[8] Your first official meeting with him had him interrogating you about how you got to the town without encountering any of the dangerous monsters that surround it and the magic mist, believing you may have some latent ability that protected you.[9] He then proceeds to go through a general health checkup, while also testing your ability to conduct magical energy. He determines that, since you put out no magical energy, that your travel through the mist must have obstructed it, noting that this isn't the first time this has happened to travelers to the town. Though his examination does end up with a bit of inappropriate conduct.[10]
He afterwards notes that what happened to you is incredibly subtle to detect and might have gone unnoticed in anyone else as well if he wasn't employing more alchemical rather than spiritual means of detection.[1] He also hopes that his use of lavender in the room was satisfactory, since he knows large men such as himself can invariably cause other scents to occur.[11] Once the player has interacted with Harold and accepted an offer to train in magic with him[12], Oscar will approve of that activity to help them better understand what happened with your magic powers.[2]
The Way of Healing Magic
Commenting on Varok[13] and Jar[14] after you've met them,[15][16] Oscar is surprised to see fiends working for the town, as everything he has been taught about them is negative. Especially since the kingdom is still fighting against the original tribes of them and he's only heard about them existing to corrupt others. He finds Varok to be the more trustworthy and upstanding of the two.[14] He also requests that you help out Mayor Sep when you have the time, as he feels guilty having stolen the Mayor's secretary.[17] He also wishes that he knew wind-based spells to help him during his examinations and comments on how Nel and he have trouble doing various things because of their large assets getting in the way.[18]
Once you have met Kanat[19] and you have spoken with him to reveal his own connection to Jar[20], you can also discuss with Varok the situation, revealing that Kanat does not have Varak's seal because Jar has claimed him.[21]. Kanat will then discuss with you his preference for Varok and also his hopes for learning more magic with Harold.[22] This all leads to an encounter with Harold after the player had worked with him extensively and also been intimate with his repeatedly, along with having been intimate with Kanat,[23] where Harold will reveal he has decided to accept Kanat as an apprentice. He also explains Kanat's ability to remove the corruption of fiends on people, though details the impact high levels of specific schools of magic have on the physical and mental well being of the practitioner.[24]
This will allow you to discuss corruption from magic usage with Oscar and how this alters one's form to be more physiologically attuned to the type of magic they routinely use. Though if he changed, it would be to either light or water, neither of which are bad to look upon, but he would have a preference to light attunement if required.[25] In the meantime, you can do more examinations with Oscar that give you the opportunity to take advantage of the situation you've been put in and get sexual with the doctor.[26] He shyly thanks you afterwards and offers to do the same to you next time.[27] Then, once you've spoken to Kanat about his personal fears,[28] Oscar notes that he frequently works with and discusses magic with Harold to further both of their activities. They are currently working on developing a ritual to completely counteract the effect of the mist on the town's residents.[29] You can also, after having interacted with Harold's slime invention for removing curses,[30] ask Oscar about his opinion. He is hesitant despite clearly seeing their potential because he's always been taught to not take advantage of living beings. He pledges to take care of any given to him and notes the positive uses of the mana blob byproducts they made. Maybe they can even be used in ice cream.[31]
Becoming A Baby Doctor
Once you've given birth before, Oscar will check in on your well-being, especially since he's never heard of another man giving birth before or producing eggs. Your still unhatched children are in the nursery and are routinely kept care of by Jar. The imp has been teaching Oscar how to do so too in case more children need to be taken care of in the future, whether yours or if another guy ends up with the same condition.[32] If you've had Vandeel's children,[33] the otter will comment on how large the eggs were and he didn't know dwarves were birthed as eggs. He knows this isn't common, even for dwarves, and speculates on whether the strange nature of Vandeel in particular is responsible. He decides he needs to look more into dwarf genetics.[34] Meanwhile, having had Boruk's children,[35] will have Oscar comment on the orc's sexual kink of growing parts of himself, noting how easily that allowed you to have the eggs. He hopes you're taking treatments to allow yourself to heal. He has also made some medicine himself to help your future interactions with Boruk and some pills for pain. You don't have the heart to tell him that you won't use any of those because you don't have any issues in taking the orc, though you wonder why that is.[36]
Children with the toucan bard Evakk[37] has Oscar think for a moment that producing eggs is quite normal in such a case. But then he remembers the avian wife of one of his professors breastfeeding, which confuses him all over again.[38] In a more upbeat note after having had Waffurd's many children,[39] the otter will comment on how frequently the big rat has been coming over to take care of the eggs. He seems like he'll be great father material.[40] Once you've had more than three children, Oscar will question how your body is doing and whether you're getting used to the entire process of giving birth. He also seems like he wants to ask you about something, but is too shy to vocalize it.[41] If you forage to make a Banana Pork Pottater Stew, you can go on a date with Oscar to get him to open up to you more. Bringing him the food after hours at the office, he'll be embarrassed that you went through such an effort for him. While he's eating, you decide to help him out with his other large problem, which results in you forming yet another child. This time the baby of the baby doctor.[42] Speaking with him afterwards has him gush about how well your eggs are doing and also with him doting on you.[43]
When having Bjorn's kids,[44] you apparently were repeatedly in the process of making them even while at the Healer's Office for an entire week, which Oscar comments on. Bjorn ate a lot of Nel's food, though the ott enjoyed cooking for him. Oscar also enjoyed having you both over and hopes you come back next time mating season hits.[45] Though after having Shlar's children,[46] Oscar is just surprised you can walk after taking something so massive. He thought your life was going to be in danger the entire time, including when birthing such a massive egg.[47] After having helped you birth Geve's children,[48] Oscar is annoyed that Jar had teleported him off-site since Geve wasn't allowing you to be moved. He forgot to bring all the necessary supplies and had to move you and the new eggs back to the Healer's Office quickly. He also explains that none of your egg children will hatch until Jar's contract with the mayor is done and they will be born older than babies due to the magic incubation. Mayor Sep is working with Varrok to have a place to house and raise them though.[49] Things are much more brief after you have Garius' children,[50] with Oscar just noting that you no longer smelling like truffles or mushroom stew like before. And now he's hungry to go and have some at the tavern.[51]
The arrival of the Order of Knights[52] has Oscar reminisce on them being around at the guild and castle in the capitol. He thinks things will be safer with them around, since they can fight as well rather than only have adventurers doing it.[53] Successfully completing your trial and encountering the forge spirit Immor[54] will have Oscar contemplate on your recovery. It seems like your heart had appeared to stop, but when Oscar cleansed your mana, it turned out that your heartbeat was only being masked. He's never heard of something like that before and has ordered more advanced tools to come in, just in case this happens to others too.[55] Once you've finished your magic work between Oscar and Harold[56] and have completed your patrols with Commander Garthoz,[57] along with getting Nel to sing your praises as [Diakor]]'s Oracle far and wide,[58] you'll find Oscar worried about one of his new patients. He needs to deliver their test results to them at the College, but he's swamped with work. You volunteer and he directs you to take the paper to Ethoras, but warns that his patient is in the process of transforming due to demonic corruption exposure. So he's quite the terrifying sight.[59]
