Jar'Inak is an imp guard for the North Gate of the town in the visual novel GameOver. A flirtatious trickster, he'll do his best to corrupt anyone and everyone into his sexual pets. His actual job in the town as a guard is unclear and his contract with the town equally so, but none of it seems to be for good intentions. He has six Bad Ends to discover.
Background
Once a member of a more demon-like tribe in nature and action, Jar joined his new Inak tribe and took its name before joining the town. The Inaks appear to want a friendlier interaction with non-demon species and have thus outlawed the taking of slaves.[1]
Questlines
Interesting An Imp
Having met Jar when you first arrived in the town, him being the one that bestowed upon you your map, you find it surprising upon your first re-meeting that you hadn't been able to remember his species at all nor his accoutrements. You're also a little surprised that an imp would be working in a town, with the demon race being more commonly expected to cause mischief. He gets a bit offended if you bring that up though and also informs you that while his assets may be expansive, he gets around via floating and outright flying.[2]
You choosing to be around the imp surprises him and he admits that being a guard and a demon is rather lonely, as only the other guards will talk with him. In response for the conversation, he mentions the existence of the secret glade.[3] If you then have talked with Garius about the special area in the western forest, you can bring the rumor up with Jar, who will confirm its the plant-infested glade he mentioned. But the area has become corrupted and dangerous, so he will only agree to take you there if you figure out a way to protect yourself.[4] He does, meanwhile, think it's hilarious that you managed to luck your way through the forest on your own.[5]
Becoming An Imp's Pet
Advancing in having a personal relationship with Jar requires that you be capable of handling him, such as having traits allowing large quantities of liquid and smells. He will then allow you to be dominated by him.[6] He decides to keep calling you "Adventurer" rather than giving you a new pet name, while also obliquely indicating that he might want to be friends with you.[1] If you fall out of stamina while wandering the town at any point after this, there is a chance Jar will find you and you'll become his true pet.[7] He will be confused after your gameover is reversed, however, as you will be marked by him as his pet, but he doesn't remember ever doing that.[8]
Alternatively, if you have enabled the trait of allowing vore, Jar will bring up the idea of stuffing you into either parts of his body, musing that he'll decide which on a whim when it happens.[9] Which he is quite happy to do, though revealing certain aspects of his abilities at the same time. In order to devour you with either method without fighting and weakening you, he requires a willing participant and his powers are indicated by the tip of his spear beginning to glow. Then, he is able to teleport you into either area of his body without going through the physical process of consuming you. Upon bringing you back, you find that his clothes are missing, but are quickly reformed, indicating they only exist as an act of power from him and not when he's focused on using them elsewhere. He, however, doesn't seem to have the ability to clean up any liquids from his body and also hates the smell of them. He also seems to have made some sort of agreement to not have full sexual intercourse with you yet, though he wishes he was willing to break his word.[10][11] Be careful you don't run out of health while inside him though or you won't be coming back out.[12][13]
The Mark Of An Imp
Questioning on how his abilities function will result in him being tight-lipped, saying that if you're closer friends with him, he might reveal more. He also notes that the reason why he hasn't blatantly had sex with you yet despite vocally betraying his interest is because of the rules of being an Inak, referring to that being one of the reasons they are so "detested" by other demons.[14] Continuing on with Jar will require you to get Ran's permission to patrol with the guards[15] and having gotten permanently mind-controlled by Varok[16] and having spoken with him about it.[17] Jar becomes suspicious on how you figured out Iron's needs in order to beat him and says he's been using his mark on you to try and learn more on what your latent power is. He determines that you've been cursed and he goes into your mind using his mark to figure out how, but finds you know nothing about it. He wants you to patrol with him so he can continue to shirk on doing his job, but now has a toy to do it with.[18]
You interrogate Jar more on his mark and he decided to tell you more, since he trusts you won't blabber to Harold. Explaining that Varok has managed to mark the mage and Nel and that, being a powerful fiend, he doesn't have to do much to accomplish that. But imps like Jar have to completely dominate someone "mentally and physically" in order for the mark to hold. He had been planning on getting some mindbroken slaves of his own before Varok commanded him to join the town and both made a pact with mayor Sep, which also freed the demons under Varok from being controlled by him, such as Jar.[19]
Having An Imp's Children
After unlocking patrolling with Jar, having obtained the trait of mpreg from Azlos will result in Jar commenting on how kinky you are, suggesting that he put a seal on you that would allow children to form in you whenever he activates it after you've been with other men. Though they will be born via eggs and all be Jar's children rather than anyone else's, but he can also just not activate it and let you do things the normal way. It seems that a part of his pact with Sep is the requirement for Jar to have children, something he says you should question the mayor on if you want to know why. Though Sep might want to take advantage of your new seal if he hears about it. And any of Jar's children that are born will be taken and raised properly aas demons by him, but you might get to meet them later.[20]
Jar will suggest with patrolling that you spend the time inside him, noting that while he may use certain terminology, he doesn't actually digest those inside of him. Part of his contract with Sep is that he can only absorb energy now.[21] After having been hypnotized and absorbed by Azkim in the forest and you've begun working with him during his activities for Sep[22], Jar will opine on your mana donations to the lizard. Jar is interested in the idea of feeding off your life essence, since you're kinky enough to enjoy it, pointing out that he's gotten way more power befriending mortals than fighting against them ever offered him.[23] If you've followed up with Garius on the secret glade, he says he'll find some way to convince Jar to tell the two of you about it.[24]
Jar will then bring up that Garius approached him about entering the glade to forage for items he needs. Jar tells you he'll look for a place to enter the glade at for you, since his constant "feeding" of the plants there have made them grow significantly and only he's safe to be there. But he warns you that you won't be able to win a straight on fight with them, so will have to find an alternative. And that maybe you should worry about the risks of getting close to others, because there's always the risk for adventurers that you'll never come home.[25] After having spoken with Boruk about his interest in having kids with you and the seal Jar put on you,[26] you can get Jar to agree to let you both have children via his abilities.[27] Similarly, after having gotten a warning from Sep about Jar[28] and having gone on a date with Vandeel[29], Jar will tell you he informed the dwarf about your capabilities and you might expect to have some kids sooner rather than later.[30] Once you've spoken with Bjorn about your kids together,[31] Jar will explain that all the bragging Bjorn has been doing about being with you for years, which is clearly a lie, obviously, made the imp decide to inform him about your abilities. And the amount of kids made between you two is getting him close to finishing his deal with Sep. And when that happens, you'll be ready for him to really give you as many eggs as you can handle. Since he and Varok are no longer serving the last demon king, they need a new way to replenish the number of imps in the world.[32]
Patrolling With An Imp
During your patrols with Jar, you find that he's actually rather popular among the townsfolk needing answers, though he always gives them via riddles or other cryptic responses. It seems Varok told him to do so in order to make demons seem more esoteric and knowledgeable.[33] After having completed Kubas second investigation[34] by being aware of nagas[35] and their proximity to town[36], then informing Shlar of the tracks you found,[37] Jar will bring up your search on your next patrol and give you some hints on how to proceed.[38] Your third patrol has you investigating an incident at the Blacksmith's and you notice how everyone is very forthright with Jar, even the travelers just passing through town. Normally, you'd expect people to be wary of a demon, even if they are a member of the guards, but they seem perfectly comfortable around him. Jar explains that his abilities make it very easy for him to get people to tell him things, even secrets. He's fine with telling you this because your mark prevents you from squealing to others and he'll know if someone else tries to get into your mind to find out.[39]
Once you've fully completed your special investigation with Kubas[40], your next patrol will have you run into Kubas who is surprised at your close relationship with Jar, pondering that he would have let you investigate both demons rather than just Varok if he had known. He also feels after grilling Jar that the imp indeed knows the culprit of your investigation, but isn't telling. Jar will approach you afterward and acknowledge that he does know, but that you're the one supposed to be figuring out the situation according to Ran. While he would love to have the world know your investigation success was only due to the involvement of a demon, he would rather keep more separate from you so he doesn't get in trouble with The Order and the lion he'll be sure to introduce you to when they arrive.[41] Your fifth patrol looking into a robbery at the jewelry store involves an unknown item left by the thief and taken by Varok. Jar says he'll help you out with future detective cases if you get a partner to help you out and that you should avoid looking into things on your own unless you want to become a statistic.[42]
The end of each patrol will result in an opportunity to have some fun with Jar if you have the vore or transformation traits unlocked, two separate scenes for each depending on your choices.[43][44][45][46] Don't go overboard though or you'll once again become a part of Jar forever.[47][48][49]
Completing The Contract
Once you've had five children from Jar's abilities, including one with Vandeel, and have finished your patrols with Commander Garthoz, then Jar will decide on an ultimatum. While the Order's arrival and takeover of the town has broken Jar's contract with the town itself, he still had his personal contract with Mayor Sep on producing a certain number of children. And your slow production isn't good enough, so Jar suggests that he increase your capabilities and also let you have kids with any guy you point out. Sounds like you're going to be busy soon.[50] He opens up your options for this role immediately afterward, with your first man chosen for you being Vandeel. Jar keeps you locked up, seemingly with other adventurers in similar impregnated states, for a week until after you produce the multiple eggs Vandeel left you with.[51] You find out after that the size changes to Vandeel's downstairs are still there afterwards and he's trying to get used to them.[52] Jar points out that the changes from his magic are permanent. He could make them temporary, but thinks it's more fun for them to retain what they desired.[53]
Your next client is Garius, who is very surprised to find you suddenly in his bedroom, but very happy to give you another batch of children.[54]
