Vandeel is a dwarf blacksmith from the visual novel GameOver.

Background

Born as a member of the dwarven kingdom in the south, he still cares about his peoples' culture.[1]

Questlines

Once you've encountered Vince's alternative ending[2] and helped him out with his ideas about the mist[3], along with getting Mayor Sep's approval as a visitor to the town,[4] you'll run across a loud yelling man at the Blacksmith shop and Vince will explain that a master blacksmith has come to town and will be teaching him how to improve his abilities and how to enchant items. Vandeel then comes out, recognizes you as the new traveler, and exposes Vince's secret fantasies about you.[5] You'll then see Vandeel through a number of Vince's working scenes and while talking with the fox, but you won't be able to interact directly with the dwarf until after you've extensively worked with the two of them[6] and have met Bjorn while he's working on construction over at the East Gate.[7]

Unsurprisingly, your first direct interaction with Vandeel has him propositioning you and making you and Vince have to again deny that you've done anything sexual together. But he eventually gets to the point in that he needs you to accompany him around town on some business. To what end you have no idea.[8] Choosing to do so has the dwarf changing out of his kilt and into normal clothes, though not without teasing you more. You can choose to counter his offer and actually take care of his problem, which he is more than willing to let you do.[9] A different version of this can also play out if you have the musk kink unlocked.[10] The teasing continues after you have submitted to him, of course, and Vandeel confirms when you ask that the thickness of what he produces is because of his race, though you wonder if that's really the case.[11]

Otherwise, you both go out on the town to Rutherfurd's shop where he semi-frequently checks to see if the tailor ends up making a design from the dwarf's home country. While he does find kilt designs, they aren't his style and never seem to be in his large size. He says he can never find stuff for a growing dwarf like himself, which confuses you because you weren't aware dwarves kept growing in their old age. That is how it works, right?[1] If you question him on what he meant by "growing", he blows off the question completely.[12] Talking with Vince about his inspirations will have him tell you about all the things he still wants to learn and how he wants to be as good as Vandeel one day.[13] Vandeel will notice the improvement the fox has been making, including learning how to have firmer strikes for making objects other than jewelry. He attributes this change to you and compliments you on getting Vince to work harder.[14]

Another town trip has you looking at the produce in the market, with the goal of getting Vince to learn how to cook better. It sounds like Vandeel himself already is a decent chef.[15] A separate trip takes you to Azlos' shop where he picks up a mysterious package and sends you away afterwards.[16] Be careful on both your trips out with him and your personal time with him, as if he wears you out too much you might become a permanent pupil of the Blacksmith shop. A useful one though, especially with your propensity for magical energy allowing you to help out with the engraving, so long as the two of you don't become too distracted with other activities.[17] After time re-exerts itself, Vandeel notices the weird feeling like you both have a closer relationship than you actually do and can't pinpoint why.[18]

A following trip to the market has a strange occurrence, with Vandeel becoming overheated and, before your very eyes, starts to physically grow and destroy the clothes he's wearing in this public place. Completely embarrassed at what happened, he runs off and you have to track him down. But he's happy about it at that point, admitting to being a bit of a exhibitionist and voyeur. He sends you off to to get him new clothes and you tell Vince what happened in the meantime, both of you wondering what's going on.[19] Talking with Vandeel has him acting different from before, wanting to do sexual things with you more out in the open than any time before.[20] Subsequent work takes you to the Barracks where you're dropping off finished weapons at the armory, though Vandeel suggests in the future you both might get frisky in the public space when you return to pick up gear to repair.[21] He doubles down on this when you speak with him and you wonder if Vince received the same treatment when he was helping out previously.[22] He follows through on this threat the next time you play with him.[23]
