Harold is a bearcat mage in the visual novel GameOver. A confident former part of the magic guild, his experience and genius in the realm of magic is well known and well-regarded, despite the disgrace of his banishment from the guild for his research into darker topics.

As of now, he lives in the town in order to find out more about the mist-filled barrier surrounding the northern forest and the many demons that inhabit the region. Being old friends with other magic users in the city, such as the healer Oscar, he hopes to be able to not only solve the forest puzzle, but also unravel ways to protect and heal people from demonic influence. He has four Bad Ends to discover.

Background

As a member of the magic guild in the capital city, Harold was to be the person in charge of scouting out new magic charges from the population who had the potential to become full mages. His own capabilities rapidly outstripped his mentors despite his young age, leading to him becoming a teacher of not only other pupils, but other teachers besides. He invented better ways to move mana through the body for the healing arts and various new spells only possible because of his mastery of multiple elements, unlike most other mages.

This reputation increased to the point that he himself was an important person taught about during classes on the history of magic, even while he was still a member of the school itself. But his own immense accomplishments led to him pushing the limits of magic and delving into forbidden topics such as how demon magic works in order to find ways to resist and reverse its effects, leading to him being kicked out of the mage's guild.

Questlines

Becoming A Mage's Busboy

First encountered as an unknown well dressed man at the Town Center, Harold senses something from you and questions whether you're a part of the magic guild. Accepting your confusion as a no, he introduces himself and gives the indication that he's a noble from the capital. He suggests you visit him over at the Blacksmiths in order to learn more about your hidden talents. He offers you tea and desserts upon your visit, again bringing up the topic of your latent potential, and offers you a proposition. He'll help you discover what your capabilities are and you will act as his assistant in his transformation research.

The beginning of your erstwhile employment has you returning books to the shelves so you can familiarize yourself with Harold's expansive lab and library floorplan. Inquiring about the size of the building, Harold explains that the previous alchemist made it possible. He is also making arrangements for a proper library to be built in the town for the books he doesn't need to personally retain. The next stage of your employment is to retrieve books from the stacks, while still putting away ones that Harold finishes. It's tiring work. Harold suggests, if you're getting a bit bored with the grind, to have a look at some of his books and do some research of your own.

Your next few forays into the hallways of books results in you learning about several monster species, including mermen, seers, and snapdragons. After several further periods of study with Harold, he will announce that he is ready to move to the testing phase of his research. He explains that his research on merging will require you to become a temporary part of his body so he can better understand the phenomenon, with the aim of figuring out why demons employ such methods. Perhaps ultimately allowing for the permanent form of it used by the demons to be reversed. He trusts that you won't tell anyone about this, as this form of activity is considered dark magic and is the reason why he was put under suspicion in the past.

Transformational Practice

To be allowed into the realm of research testing with Harold, you must have already enabled your body to be transformed. Your first foray into testing with the bearcat involves you enhancing his third leg significantly. Your following chat with him surprises you with a bearcat in the buff, as Harold feels you need to be more comfortable around him in such lacking attire if the testing is to continue properly. He becomes a bit more intimate with you, keeping you at his bare side and feeding you your usual tea and snacks.

This then allows you to experience two further testing encounters involving Harold's upper body and his posterior, though be careful not to go beyond your limits or you might remain a part of his body forever. After this, he informs you that he is ready to go to the next step of his research, though is willing to still practice these tested merges whenever you like.

The next test requires that you are familiar with vore and have experienced it with Jar and spoken to him about his abilities. Playing a little trick on you after hearing about your exploits with the imp, Harold ends up putting you inside of his hanging appendages rather than merging with them. However, he apologizes afterwards for tricking you and says that he needs to work better to resist such temptations.

Gaining A Horned Assistaant

Once you've gained Kiel's approval to enter the library, met Kanat, and spoken with him about his connection to Jar and Varok, Harold will offer him an opportunity to learn more magic. Then, so long as you've been intimate with the ram and spoken to him about your activities,, you can speak with Harold about his new apprentice, the nature of magic, and its inherent risks. The next time you study with him, the bearcat requests that you help interact with his pupil and encourage him, perhaps through physical means, to be more active and willful in his personality and research.

To do so requires one to have gone through all the intimate possibilities with Kanat before, which will then allow him to open up about his nervousness in his own studies and about studying under such an accomplished mage like Harold. Kanat then proceeds to move into Harold's guest room and Harold offers his living space to you as well, though he has no extra rooms to give, so he instead will let you sleep with him whenever you need a place to stay other than the inn. But he will certainly take advantage of your body any time you choose to sleep in his bed, though you do get to enjoy waking up in the morning with him. The food quality after this will see a dramatic upturn, as Kanat is a good chef and brought cookbooks with him expressly for the purpose.

Revelations And Purges

After you've completed your examination with Oscar and gotten his commentary on the spiritual curse you seem to be under, Harold will offer his own insights on the matter after having spoken with the otter. He believes that while you were passing through the forest, some other entity merged with your body and knew that it would be highly compatible with your own magical field. This was done while you were unawares and what allowed you to pass through the forest without being accosted or noticing much of anything. But the counterpoint is that this entity has locked away your personal magical abilities and is the reason why Oscar couldn't detect any form of magic from you, not even the normal magic of a living being. This also had helped to shroud any magic user from detecting the immense power and ability that the "curse" has bestowed upon you.

Continuing his investigation into the misty barrier in the north forest, Harold explains that one can be fairly certain demons are responsible and so it might be helpful to get close to a powerful friendly one such as Varok and to also find and befriend a sorcerer in town whose excessive magic use has turned them into a fiend. He is certain there is at least one, if not many, hiding their true appearance with magic and, through their nature and more dark relationship, might be able to pass on more information about the barrier. They wouldn't willingly show themselves to you, however, especially since knight order reinforcements are on their way to the town, currently only held off due to the maze-like quality of the misty forest barrier, and will likely try to hold a purge of darker elements when they arrive. It isn't known to the general public that they've already sent an advanced scouting party to the town disguised as adventurers.

Being given Varok's mark for protection will result in Harold commenting on it, explaining its function among demons, though is surprised that you were able to convince the demon to invest in your safety like that. Then, once you've received Jar's mark in an alternate timeline and spoken to Jar about his lack of knowledge of giving it to you, Harold will remark about Jar's personality being something where the mage would never be willing to go far enough to receive his mark. Finally, after all of this, Harold will inform you that it's time to get back to the research as Oscar is in the process of obtaining the next piece of the puzzle and you will all need to be closer to fixing the forest barrier problem before a Knight's Order representative arrives fairly soon.

Seducing A Goat And Other Activities

Your assistance in his research, however, returns to you running down books for him from the shelves, though this time Harold sneaks up to you and becomes a bit frisky, with the purpose of riling up Kanat who is watching on secretly from a distance. So long as your lust is at half when you begin, the manhandling will become more explicit before the end. He engages in a similar scene by having you go under his research desk. The next study session has Harold revealing a new invention of his to you that utilizes a slime attuned to the magic of the forest barrier. The plan is to use the slimes to cleanse any curse affliction from travelers and adventurers that go through the forest. Unfortunately, your curse is much more advanced than that, so different measures will be required in your case.

When you go to help out Kanat with his research, you find that he's still just as shy and nervous as he had been, unsure about the worth of his own body in comparison to you or Harold. Having seen Harold and you together, Kanat will ask you about it and express his own interest in the activity, though you'll have to force his hand on getting close to you. Then once you've done the rest with Harold and learned about the slimes, Kanat again shows his interest in getting close to you, but remains nervous about doing so out in the open. Harold praises your efforts next you speak, noting that the goat isn't covering up in his presence anymore, and that you both will just need one more push to get him to fully open up.

Once you've had slime children with the incubus Sparky, Harold expresses his concern about the incubus pushing you beyond your limits and while he's happy about the new slimes to work with, he'd prefer if he was the one to impregnate you next time.

Conducting Slimy Research

After you've completed the previous work with Harold, have been sleeping with the big bearcat, and have worked with him at least six times, he will tell you to meet him in his bedroom. Laying skin to skin, he'll explain the next step for his research. He and Oscar have been using the slimes they've cultivated to cleanse people of the curses and corruption from the forest barrier. He's also noticed an additional ability they have that will require you to utilize. He convinces you to agree with some physical stimulation and consummates the deal. Harold has been doing selective breeding with the slimes and wants you to merge with these offspring to test their mana absorption capabilities. He also admits to his growing love for you.

Starting the testing with only parts of your body, a black slime is attached to your genitals, which you note seems to dull any sensation. It also seems to shrink things down there while the slime surrounds your bits. Returning with you to his room and getting back into your previous clothe-less position, he shows off the improvement he's made to the slime goo, locking away your goods again. This time with an actual lock symbol, but he also shows that all feeling, in fact even more so, has been restored while using it. If you run out of stamina or health during this exchange, Harold calls it a night to let you rest up. The follow-up experiment has him put the slime on your behind, to similar non-feeling results, so no progress there. He once again makes improvements however and demonstrates again in his bedroom.

The subsequent test keeps your clothes on, but is significantly more dangerous, having the slime cover your head. You hold your breath as long as you can, but Harold is forced to remove it since the slime does not seem trained on letting you breathe. His later improvements has the slime also enter your mouth and allow you to slightly feel sensation and also breathe, which he takes advantage of. He considers letting the slimes be involved when you merge with his body so they better understand the process. The planned final experiment is aborted before it begins. Harold had planned to use a family of slimes to cover your entire body, but determines the risk of them absorbing you to be too great and he cares too much for you to go against his fears. He explains that he wants to do several more generations of selective breeding, but even that will take too much time, over a year in fact. He has some potential ideas for speeding up their breeding process from some rumors he has heard. He considers putting out an adventurer bounty for finding the item he needs, but the details would be difficult. Though he points out that at least these experiments have gotten him closer to unraveling the abilities you have. You, meanwhile, wonder about what options you know about for finding a proper breeding nest for slimes.

Making The Perfect Slime

Having questioned Sparky and gotten his answer that your corrupted, demon-created womb is perfect for breeding and creating mutations in slimes, Harold will inspect you and explain that after talking to Sparky and Jar, he found out that it is the father's contribution that will need to be modified. Since Jar has made your womb to more reflect the father's characteristics, rather than yours. He suggests you choose him to be the father, even though these would just be slimes and not real children between the two of you. He still hopes to do the latter someday and gives you the moniker of his "Kitten". Redoing the prior research events with the slimes after this point will change to new scenes with the selectively bred better functioning versions. The one covering your crotch now has extremely high levels of sensitivity, the one in your behind now exhibiting a vibrator function, and the one on your head now covering only the inside of your mouth and now having full touch sensitivity. Be careful not to run out of stamina in these updated scenes, however, or you might find yourself slime-suited for the foreseeable future and a useful toy for your bearcat master.

You also have an additional option when sleeping with Harold, so long as the mpreg kink is active, where you can ask him to fill you with slime eggs. Which he will then proceed to fertilize. You are forced to stay in bed for a while until you release the newly born slimes from your body. He thanks you afterwards and says he's looking forward to when he gets to make children with you again.

A Brand New Maid

To continue your relationship with Harold, you need to have completed the full research scenes with his slimes, along with the attempted final experiment, and you need to have stayed the night with Harold with additional food prep with Kanat having been done along with seeing his game over due to roaming stamina loss. Once you've done all of this, Harold will have you join him on the couch and go through the extremely distracting motions of learning how to undress him. It's a bit much for you though and he suggests a new uniform that will keep you under control. When next you approach him, he takes you to his bedroom and forcefully rips your clothes to shred, forming you a maid uniform out of the slimes he controls. The outfit keeps you locked away and he also purchases you an entirely new set of expensive clothing for general use.

You'll then be put to work dusting off the massive place. Kanat will come by to thank you for taking up some of the responsibilities, as it frees him up more time for his magic studies. Next will be cleaning up the mess left by the slimes. Apparently Harold has been feeding them different things to see what magical byproducts they produce. Of course, he takes the opportunity to mess with you while you try to clean. The third time, Harold finally takes full advantage of your body. After completing your dusting, Harold will have you dress up in lingerie for him, taking you back to his room.

On another day, you also work to make meals for the pair, taking over cooking duties from Kanat for a while. The goat checks in on you to see if you need any help, but is quickly called away by Harold, worried that he's messed something up for his teacher. Cooking will also attract Harold to molest and tease you while you're trying to get food made. He lets you know about cream buns being his favorite. Your ability to stay focused and keep the food from burning will be sorely tested when Harold takes complete control of your rear while you're doing so. Having you join him exposed on the couch, Harold reveals that he likes causing you some pain in addition to pleasure, to benefit your nightly sessions. And that he actually enjoys letting you go about your life, but still come back to him. Though someday, when his research is done, that might change.

You also clean Harold's bedroom, being careful not to mess with the many expensive items he keeps in there. Kanat brings you the clean laundry to help you out and you can embarrass him by asking if he ever thinks about cleaning Harold's clothing personally. Seems the answer is yes, but he'd never admit it. Cornering you in the room, Harold tells you about the filthy things he wants to do to you. You seem to have a hallucination of Harold doing things to you while you mess with his dirty laundry. That didn't actually happen, right? While cuddling, Harold explains that the reprieve you've given Kanat to focus on his magic and research has significantly progressed Harold's work with the slimes and he'll soon be ready to continue his testing with you. Now in a more controlled manner that doesn't risk you. He does state that it feels like you're just a separate part of him and he obsesses over you frequently.

Be careful when doing your cleaning and cooking work that you don't let your stamina or health drop to zero or let Harold arouse you to maximum lust, otherwise, you'll find yourself his permanent maid and cook, feeding him his meals and taking care of his other needs.

Intimacy And Little Sleep

You'll be able to spend a new night in Harold's bed after completing each full set of scenes for your maid tasks. The first takes full advantage of your body, with some mesmerizing commentary. Helping him dress in the morning, Harold notes how perfectly you complete everything he puts you to and compliments you as a Good Boy that has no need to go on any adventures when your true calling is with him. Grooming his body later on and feeding him snacks, Harold comments on how much better you are than his previous butler. He also uses you as a stress reliever before he gets back to research. The next sleepover he is even more forceful about things. You're quite sore in the morning though while he gets ready for work. He talks about how much he has to work to avoid ravishing you constantly and you find yourself thinking about how amazing he is and how much a burden you are to him. You ask that he calls you Kitten always as your name with him.

The final option you have in your nights with Harold is to have him use his slimes reproductive capabilities on you again. But he informs you that you already succeeded in making slimes that can reproduce themselves, so he doesn't need that anymore. Instead, he activates your mark from Jar and says he'll impregnate you the other way instead, more directly. He comments on needing to learn more about such magics and looks forward to being able to induce a real heat in you in the future to give you children the normal way, as he finds Jar's eggs "unsightly". He appears to retain some control over your body afterwards and you flush thinking about having a large family with him in the future, which he mistakes for you getting a fever.

I Heard You Like Absorption

Your return to Harold's place some time later has him confront you with the new spell book he's completed from his research, which should allow him to finally decipher the mechanics behind your body's curse. To utilize this new knowledge, Harold will need to have a confrontation with you using his slime-related powers and mental and absorption magic, which he's used on you in the past. The following fight has six different outcomes that can occur, depending on the third action taken in the initial fight and your current lust levels.

If Open Mind is chosen as the final action and lust is in the lower half, then Harold will take the opportunity to take over your mind and change you to be a thought free pet for him. Laying across him after, Harold notes your new boldness in physically expressing your desire for him, which he enjoys. If your lust is over half with Open Mind, he will instead begin draining your mana and absorbing your body into his. He comments later on how difficult it is to let you be apart from him, since it feels more and more like you're two parts of one whole. He also says cryptically that he's figured out some of your powers, that they have a specific condition to activate and so he'll keep it to himself so it doesn't disturb your daily life. He will work toward activating it in the future though, even if the impact isn't something entirely beneficial for him.

If Expose Body is the final action and lust is low, Harold will decide to use your body to enlarge and empower his own, both above and below. You notice not long after just how much larger he physically appears to be. Acknowledging that, he also points out that he's discovered a lock in your mind that restrains your abilities. And your abilities are simply what is leaking out of the seal because of how immense the power itself is. He believes the lock will break itself as your powers continue to grow or if there is a condition that unlocks it completely. A greater lust threshold will have him instead start to absorb you directly into his lower assets. You'll be helping Harold dress later and will note how much more difficult it is to fit him into his pants now, along with his scent becoming that much more powerful.

An additional scene in this asset enlarging outcome can be achieved through specific criteria. Starting the fight with maximum health and stamina (achieved through using stamina increasing items from Azlos' shop once at Harold's) and selecting Give Desires twice before the final selection of Expose Body, along with then choosing only the Be Absorbed option four times (with the vore kink active) will reveal an extra illustrated interaction. He will suddenly question you about Jar afterwards, particularly on the need for the imp to improve his demonic mark on you so that you can remain safe while Harold does some more thorough internal activities with your body. His lack of experience with the method requires him to be told more details before he can ensure his fun with you will be more extensive, but also repeatable.

Lastly, Give Desires has only one outcome regardless of lust, with Harold taking the opportunity to cover your body with his and take advantage of you physically. After the fun, he will mysteriously mention that he's discovered some new things for you to try later after his testing is done, but won't elaborate. The final form of engagement requires you to fail in the initial stage, having your health or stamina drop to nothing. To do this, since the initial options only drop a tenth each time (Open Mind for health, Expose Body for stamina, and Give Desires for both at half the value), you will need to start the fight with either stat at its lowest value to close to it in order to run out before your third move. If you manage this, Harold will take your weakness in coming to him already in such a state as showing that you can no longer take care of yourself on your own. He'll manage the thinking for you and have you become a loyal pet whose thoughts only revolve around what he, your Master, would want you to do. This will result in you having a future where you've become a fully enslimed drone alongside Kanat and you both only work to please your owner in any way he desires.

Once you've completed all the previous conversations after testing and have achieved that alternative future, Harold will announce that he's completed his testing. You, however, are fully distracted from his explanation by the magnificence of his body and won't hear a thing. He will however get your attention again once he announces you no longer need to test, unless there's a refresher required, because your ability seems to have activated during the testing with him. It was after he began having thoughts that you wearing your fancy clothes he bought you and not being fully encased in slime was incorrect that he realized. He needs to obtain something else, or someone, he says, but doesn't explain.
