Iron is the horse Instructor of the Guards in the visual novel GameOver. A commanding stallion, he takes command of all the daily training for the guards at the Barracks and demands only top notch performances. Though he can be naturally lustful, he makes sure to keep himself in check so as not to arise the ire of the Captain Ran. He has two Bad Ends to discover.

Background

Originally, Iron was a knight at the castle in the capital city, where he was generally more lecherous than he has been since. While he played a switch role at times, he made sure that any of his partners didn't stay around at the castle to spread rumors about his activities. He always had the ambition to be like his father, who had an unknown role similar to him that involved fighting. He also obtained his domineering manner and opinion of always topping his partner first from his father, frequently referencing that he is a "breeding stallion" like his dad.[1][2]

Questlines

Upon first meeting him, Iron discourages the player from staring while the guards are training and that, if you want a job, then you need to go talk to Ran as the Baroness has set up open positions to apply for. He recognizes you as the new traveler from the forest and expresses interest in a sparring match with you. Your refusal isn't entirely surprising to him though, as his instincts told him you didn't have much fighting experience, but he still feels something weird about you. He suggests you join the training in the future, which also gives him time to figure out the strange feeling.[3]

Further interactions with Iron will only be allowed after getting permission from Ran, which itself requires completing at least one patrol with him to gain his trust[4] and then asking.[5] After additional conversation shows you don't know what sort of weapon to use, Iron continues being consternated in why he feels you're more than a weak rookie. He also explains to you that at least your arrival made things more interesting and that he had been bored and thinking of quitting before the whole demon forest situation happened, especially since the town still didn't have a brothel yet for him to have some off-work personal time.[6] After doing some hand to hand training,[7] Iron continues commenting on how he doesn't understand you. Unlike the potential he can see in some of the other recruit, you just feel weird, as if you have some hidden power he can't identify.[8]

After overdoing things during training and becoming Iron's permanent squire[9] and having gone through numerous training drills, Iron once again suggests sparring. He really want so try and figure out what the strange feeling is he has about you.[10][11] So long as you've already gotten a potion from Azlos to allow for higher capacity through the inflation trait, the next time you go for training with Iron will start the one on one fight.[12] But without the proper preparation, it'll be impossible to win. Iron is just too good at hand to hand combat[13] and losing to him will only result in him taking you under his wing yet again.[14] But this is necessary to give you the opportunity to after speak with Ran, who will suggest you go bulk up with Vic to get the muscles needed to grapple Iron. This will give you much more of an advantage and you'll then be able to do something else during the grapple to beat him. Though Ran isn't sure what exactly the best method is for that.[15]

Getting the muscles required to win will take nearly a dozen workout sessions with Vic, who will then compliment you on your progress.[16] You can then ask him for some pointers on grappling and he'll spend some hours training you, though informing you that just grappling is going to wear you out faster than Iron. So you'll need an additional trick.[17] Vic is a bit of a blabbermouth, however, and it seems he told Reynard about your troubles while he was bartending for Garius. Vic actually plans to add a wrestling ring expansion to the gym, so is interested in how your fight turns out. Reynard, meanwhile, wants to use the ring for his lessons on how people suffering from hyper conditions can gain more flexibility and manage their movements. Reynard gives you some info about Iron's history with himself and some kinky info about the fox's time spent with Iron's dad. In the end, he suggests you make use of a thrusting technique to take Iron down.[1]

Your next time round in the competition should come out more satisfactory. So long as you make sure you enter the fight with a somewhat lustful nature that's not quite half and also immediately utilize your grappling skills and your newly patented thrusting technique all the way to the end. Victory will be achieved and two mutually exclusive fun outcomes with Iron will be yours for the choosing.[18][19] Iron demands afterwards that you keep the fight secret and that he would be up for sparring again in the future. Particularly if it will let him get better at resisting someone grinding against him, something Reynard mentioned Iron's father had learned by letting others top him, which Iron is generally opposed to allowing.[20] He's also confused on why that first time you were together after the fight didn't feel like your first time together.[21] Beating the stallion impressed Ran, who is willing to let you go on patrol of the town and forest with the other guards now, knowing you can hold your own in a fight if you have to.[22]

The almost instant closeness you two share is also bizarre to Iron, who speculates on whether you're one of those "soulmates" things his dad had talked about before. Not that he's planning on settling down or even having just a single partner. He also says that in addition to sparring, he's willing to have more intimate fun again, but that you gaining any advantage over him would require you carrying his children first.[2] Iron also gets mad at Reynard "spilling the beans" about his dad and what the both of them are like. Though he's okay with you knowing since he trusts you. And he also drops the bombshell that, after the brothel is finished being constructed, that his dad will likely be visiting.[23] Later, if you've gotten close to Jar and gotten a bit too close of an inside look at his assets,[24] the rumor of your activities start getting around and Iron hears about them. He suggests the next time you fight that he might let you have an inside look of his as well, though it also seems like he's keeping something else secret from you.[25]

Once you've been working with Harold for a while on his studies and he suggests upgrading to active testing of his merging powers,[26] Iron will comment on the bearcat's history and how he still counts as a noble even after being kicked out of the guild.[27] Similarly, once you've met Bruax, Iron will hear about it and comment on their activities and the fate of the previous helpers. He also notes that one of the centaurs sneaks into town at night to have fun with Nel, though he himself can't be around them as they view him as a challenger to their alpha natures. But the horse speculates on whether them being calm around you means you might be able to convince them to be used as mounts for patrolling the town.[28] A longer series of requirements in addition to working with the centaurs is first convincing Shlar to let you do so and becoming intimate with him, including having playtime with him involving the vore trait.[29] Iron is interested in having the same sort of dedication to himself too, again bringing up his dad's partners, but trailing off sadly. Clearly there is a deeper problem between him and his father that he hasn't told you about yet.[30]
