Kanat is a goat scholar from the visual novel GameOver. Introspective and reclusive, the shy, stuttering ram has a real desire to get close to someone else, whether in friendship or something more. With your help, he becomes more confident in himself and more willing to advance his research by working with Harold despite the possible risks.
Questlines
The Cursed Goat
First encountered in the Library after getting entry permission from Kiel[1] and after having gotten a bit too close to Harold,[2] you find Kanat trying to reach a book far too high for his short stature. Helping him, you introduce yourselves to each other and Kanat explains he was given permission from Mayor Sep to be in the archives.[3] He questions what you've been up to around town and expresses his own surprise and interest in the fiends that work for the town. He was initially fearful, but less so once he learned they were Inaks and thus devoted to protect the town itself, even if that doesn't mean they have their own agenda as well. Though he wishes to learn more about their powers to also discover how to break them to help others, both Jar and Varok being manipulator types means they won't give up any info unless they have control over you first.[4]
Jar encounters you both in the Library and reveals to Kanat that you already have done things with the fiend, as has the goat himself and is embarrassed at his lack of self-control.[5] If you then go to Kanat when your lust is at half or more, he will nervously offer to help you out with your problem.[6] You can take him up on his offer with either a giving or receiving action, before having to quickly separate when Kiel gets too close to finding you both.[7][8] He suggests that in the future you both go to his room instead so there's less risk of interruption.[9] He also apologizes for finishing so quickly[10] and hopes that you found him attractive.[11]
After you've spoken with Varok about his relationship with the ram,[12] Kanat will admit that he likes the powerful fiend more than Jar. Harold will arrive, express interest in healing magic, and suggest that if Kanat has any questions to come to ask him. Kanat is overjoyed and hopes to ask him in the future if he can become the genius mage's apprentice.[13] Helping Kanat find a book on local creatures, he explains that he's looking to speak with the local naga tribe to learn more about them and present that information to Harold when asking to work with him.[14] You can then speak with Harold about his potential new apprentice and how magic itself works and changes the user[15] before confronting Kanat with this information and the risks to his person. He is undeterred and willing to take the risk that he turns into a monster if he overuses his magic, so long as his research can end up helping others.[16] Once Harold nudges you to get a bit more familiar with Kanat and push him out of his shy comfort zone[17] you can ask the ram about his fears on working with such a famous individual and tell him that you'll be there for him the entire time.[18]
The Amorous Goat
After helping out Harold with his research and working to open up Kanat to more public experiences through your indecency with Harold,[19] you'll be able to go visit the goat in his work in the kitchen, in the buff. There appears to be a friendly slime with him as well and Kanat explains that their mana byproducts are useful to restore lost mana and in cooking in general. Apparently the slimes have preferences in what they consume and dissolve, despite it making no difference for them, and they prefer liquids most of all.[20]
