Questlines
A later addition to the town, you need to have progressed enough in getting close to Garius for Reynard to comment on it,[1] to have gotten Mayor Sep's approval for having explored every location in the Town,[2] to have done as much as you can with Waffurd,[3] and to have gotten Rutherfurd's approval for getting close to his adoptive son[4][5][6] to finally get the opportunity to encounter an unknown man with a tray at the Tavern. Garius will explain the newcomer and how he's in quite a bit of monetary debt to the Mayor. Saying hello to the tiger, he refers to Garius as his "Captain" and recognizes you as the boar's "Plucky", whatever that means.[7]
All further interactions with Burchill are done through the Clothing Shop due to his delivery activities and he will only appear in the shop every other time you visit. His first comments are about your relationship with Garius and how the tavern owner told Burchill that you're in an open relationship so he can do stuff with you. Though it sounds like the tiger has already gotten involved with the boar and the fox at the inn, the latter of whom he refers to as the "First Mate".[8] In order to expand their capabilities, Reynard has been having Burchill do food deliveries rather than requiring people to go to the Tavern. He especially enjoys delivering to Vince, who has been teaching him some blacksmithing on the side.[9] While delivering to Rutherfurd, Burchill comments on the expensive "booty" the shop sells and comments that if he was still a pirate, he would think about plundering it and the hippo's booty besides.[10]
After learning about Waffurd, the tiger becomes quite interested in meeting him for lascivious purposes.[11] Now you can help him out with his work and Burchill will immediately hand you the food containing crystal to deliver for him while he tries to lure out Waffurd from the shop. You deliver the food and wait around for your fellow delivery man to show up, but nothing happens for a bit before a tiger sized object hurtles from the sky and lands on you. This ends with you wedged underneath his massive behind and it takes a comedic moment before he discovers you're under there. All's well that ends well.[12] If you interrogate him on his unorthodox method of transportation, he explains that he is prided on his fast delivery and that travel method ensures he gets places quickly, despite potential collateral damage.[13]
The next attempt to meet Waffurd sees Burchill delivering to Rutherfurd and asking him to come out to get his food while the store is busy, almost guaranteeing that Waffurd will have to retrieve the carrying crystal. The tiger runs off to get the second crystal to delivery, while Waffurd does show up in the meantime. The same bullet from the sky routine recurs, but Waffurd is the victim this time to Burchill's behind. But since this meets his own personal interests, the rat gets mad at you when you rescue him from a crushing death.[14] Questioning his after finally reveals his secret on how he uses a cannon to blast off to parts near and far in the Town. But Ran and Garius have banned him from using it anymore, so now he needs you to show him around to locations, since he isn't clear on how to get places on foot.[15]
But the constant running he has to endures now doesn't seem to be the tiger's strong suit. He says he's good in fights and in tying things up, but not running around on land.[16] It also seems that Burchill is mesmerized by some of the unique items being offered at Rutherfurd's shop, likely made by Waffurd whom he still has yet to officially meet face to face, his behind notwithstanding.[17] While he's heard about Sep needing a new assistant, it sounds like the Mayor is the only one that likes to be in charge and Burchill would prefer to have his own "First Mate" instead of being one himself. nd not just so he can be on top all the time, since he's versatile like that. He thinks about working for Vince instead, making you think that he must be looking for some sort of alternative to the food delivery business if he has to go everywhere on foot now.[18] Though try not to overdo it while you're helping him out or you may become his long-term "Powder Monkey" doing odd jobs alongside him and practicing your rope work at night.[19]
