Kubas is a dragon adventurer/guard from the visual novel GameOver.

Questlines

Only appearing at the Barracks in a blast of cold after getting Ran's approval to patrol with the guards[1] and having come under personal control of Azkim,[2] you'll quite literally bump into Kubas and be introduced by Iron. While technically not an official guard, the dragon adventurer is acting as a trainer at the Barracks, particularly in drawing out people's latent abilities. He senses Azkim's mark on you and is intrigued as much as the others are on what you can do, suggesting you let him get personal to find out.[3] As with so many others, he begins questioning you on how you got through the northern forest and the spell of illusion on it and you inform him that you saw no mist and had no problem walking right through, making him wonder how you were so lucky.[4]

The next inquiry has Kubas badgering you about your special abilities and he determines, despite you not really wanting to answer him, that you know nothing about what you can do at all. He surmises that the power can feel must have been sealed away by someone and that's how you got through the forest so easily. Azkim, meanwhile, has been talking about you and noting how much of an eye for detail and things being wrong you have, which Kubas would like to see for himself. He tasks you with investigating the whereabouts and any other information you can find about the mysterious stranger who came the same night you did and brought the mist with him. According to Geve, the guy is a canine as well.[5]

Before you properly begin an investigation, Kubas is going to give you a test. Taking you into the main building of the Barracks, you notice that no one guard has the same sort of armor setup at the others, with Kubas wearing practically nothing, and the only point of congruence between them all being a metal harness. Kubas explains that the harness is the only official piece of armor, as it is magically enchanted for protection and serves them just as well as full plate would. Any other additions to their outfit are purely cosmetic and by choice of the individual.[6] Reaching the area where all the gear is stored, an area you might remember if you messed around with Vandeel here,[7] you notice that it is all in perfect working order with no damage or scarring at all. Kubas explains that Ran requires everyone's armor to be in order and to be properly maintained, including taking it periodically to the local blacksmith as needed. He decides you're good enough at the job and will be spearheading the investigation using your own connections to the town residents.[6]

You begin your preliminary investigations into the town while patrolling as a guard, Kubas showing up not long after.[8] To get any farther in this investigation, you must already know about nagas from both Harold[9] and from Shlar.[10] Thus, you are able to identify strange tracks on the ground having come from the long sinuous bodies of nagas and you explain the possible connection between them and the stranger to Kubas. And you explain what you learned from Harold that they only telepathically speak to whom they want and trying to capture one of them for interrogation is a bad idea. Following the tracks to the edge of town, a homeowner there who says he hasn't seen any nagas, meaning they must have come through recently before the owner returned from the market. Kubas goes to update Ran on what you've discovered.[11]
